The use of Technology for tackling Covid’19 – Italy

The recent pandemic COVID’19 is a transferable virus caused by anew exposed coronavirus. 213 nations all over the world have specified a number of 1.7 million cases of the COVID’19 that originated from Wuhan, China, and a total of 103k deaths according to WHO (World Health Organization) as of 11th April. Italy has the highest number of deaths and cases reports from COVID’19 after the USA and Spain. According to the New York Times, one of the reasons affecting the country ‘s death percentage might be the old age group. Near 23% of residents 65 or older, Italy has the oldest residents in Europe.
However, in facing the unparalleled universal health challenge posed by COVID’19, we realize an urgent requirement for progressive AI technologies to assist researchers and scientists quicken their exploration for therapeutics and diagnostics. An Artificial Intelligence worldwide organization that is headquartered in Modena, Italy, starts the fight to beat COVID’19 by granting biomedical scientists global permit access to its AI-based Clinical Research Navigator (CRN) tool proximately and covering through at a minimum July 1st. Providing biomedical scientists to determine visions to drive their research, CRN covers an organized real-time data placed over 100 million documents and reference data on 12 million medical researchers.
A Chinese company named InferVISION, developed the technology called “Infer-Read” which worked more effectively during Wuhan coronavirus was at its peak. Polyclinic Bio-Medical University Hospital in Rome is the first in Europe to buy the license from Chinese and place the technology to operate to fight the contamination. The InferVISION system is based on machine learning. It heavily depends on image-recognition algorithms that test round about 600 digital pictures of a single person’s lungs. The “Infer-Read” system is proposed to peruse the chest scans and flag which patients seem to be infected by the COVID’19. A good vending fact for the Italians was that the software could identify right from the scans – no necessity for an operator to be on hand.
In March, a research group in Italy named Ghost Data collected more than 0.5 million Instagram posts to focus on places where peoples were supposed to be on lockdown. It gave those collected pictures and videos to LogoGrab, an image processing company that can automatically recognize the people and places. The LogoGrab detect 33,120 people breached the Italian government quarantine orders. The LogoGrab and Ghost Data’s statement presented posts on Instagram with blurred faces wandering around Italy’s roads. Ghost Data has no purpose of identifying and giving the names of people overstepping the isolation to the government. LogoGrab said this was up for the government to decide.
At the beginning of April, the Italian Ministry of Innovation stated that it is required to a gathered cross-branch working group of professionals and scientists to choose conceivable technological results. An application developed by Lombardy’s government (is a region in northern Italy) which requests users to fill out and submit a form with their symptoms to make a record representing the risk of infection. The application recollects data such as the user’s IP address, IMEI code and unique serial number. Also, another Italian web development and marketing company named Webtek SPA released an app StopCovid19, which tracks the client moving by GPS. Users are requested to register their cell numbers to the software, which then enters their location to the database. Health officials can test new COVID’19 cases and check cell numbers in the database to find the others who have with the virus carrier.
Online and offline monitoring procedures planned to control the feast of COVID’19 have been presented in many countries. According to COVID’19 digital rights tracker, 28 nations have currently applied some form of surveillance to try to block the virus. A computational chemist at the University of Salerno, Naples Italy, is among 800 experts that have presented their objectives to be examined by the task group. “As I realize it, we must be fast in discovering some procedure of digital quarantine,” he said. “It is important to understand that we have got these technologies for the first time in the history of humankind, not utilizing them would be foolishness.”
